OUI MERCI

oui merci begins with friendship. It was back in 2019, while several band members were living together, that the idea blossomed on its own (with a little help from a beer, admittedly). Mathilde Joncas, Ludovic Leblond, Laurent Massie, Marc-Antoine Lavallée, and Gabriel Couture joined forces (and weaknesses) to craft the colorful music they are passionate about, drawing influence from artists like Grizzly Bear, The Flaming Lips, Big Thief, and Feist. From this union, a polished indie-rock sound quietly emerged, characterized by arrangements that oscillate between surgical precision and intentional accidents. Their music is like a small hurricane of intertwined emotions—anchored in its time but always sincere, driven by the simple desire to be together.

On February 6, 2026, oui merci released La distance n’est pas vraiment là, their second album, produced by François Lafontaine (Karkwa, Marie-Pierre Arthur, Klaus). Skillfully navigating between grandiose ballads and unpredictable rock anthems, the band delivers an album that explores the internal conflicts, dualities, and ambivalence that sometimes keep us frozen.
